Understanding the market opportunities for flexibility service providers

The Market Explorer is where distributed system operators (DSOs) publish market opportunities on ElectronConnect for flexibility service providers (FSPs).

There are two types of market opportunities.

Long-term auctions

A long-term auction is when contracts for electricity supply are sold for extended periods such as months or years, providing stability and predictability in pricing and supply. Long-term auctions consist of one bidding window for a future date.

In the β€œService window” section, certain days will be greyed out if not included in the tender.

Day/Week-ahead markets

A day/week ahead market is where electricity is bought and sold a day/week before it is actually needed, helping to balance supply and demand efficiently for the next day/week. Day-ahead markets are recurring market opportunities.
