How to search for a market

A guide to ElectronConnect’s Market Explorer, sharing how users can explore markets via lists, filters, and map functionality.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

The Market Explorer is part of the ElectronConnect platform that allows distributed service operators (DSOs) to publish market opportunities for flexibility service providers (FSPs) to discover and participate in.

Once you're logged in to ElectronConnect, you will be met with the Market Explorer page. This displays live and future markets that have been populated by the DSO.

NOTE: It is not filtered on your ability to participate in the market i.e. does not consider if you have an asset in the relevant zone.

There are multiple ways to search for live and future market opportunities.

Markets list

Market opportunities can be searched by scrolling through the list.

Selecting the downward arrow next to the market name will expand the window to provide more information regarding that market. The map will also focus in on where that market opportunity is located.

Market filters

You can filter markets by "Location", "Product Type" and "Market Stage".

"Location" filter

If you know the network location short code, you can search the markets by selecting "Location" from the drop down menu.

To edit the order or display of specific market opportunities, select "Network Locations" and adjust the list as needed.

You can refine the list by using the search bar and filtering out unsuitable market opportunities.

"Product Type" filter

You can narrow down the markets you’re looking for by their product type. All standard ENA (Energy Networks Association) product types are listed by default, although market operator’s might not offer all product types.

  • Peak Reduction

  • Scheduled Utilisation

  • Operational Utilisation

  • Scheduled Availability + Operational Utilisation

  • Variable Availability + Operational Utilisation

"Market Stage" filter

Use the "Market Stage" filter to quickly find opportunities based on where they are in the market lifecycle. Whether you're looking for upcoming opportunities ("Before Bidding"), open markets to participate in ("Bidding Open"), or reviewing past activity ("Expired"), this filter helps you focus on the most relevant market stages for your needs.

  • Before Bidding

  • Bidding Open

  • Bidding Closed

  • Services Period

  • Expired

Map functionality

The map lets you zoom in on specific areas to locate market opportunities. Hover over them for more details.
