To participate in flexibility markets on ElectronConnect, smaller assets that can’t trade independently - known as group members - need to be aggregated into groups. Before that can happen, market operators must verify the grid connection and location of each individual asset.
This one-time verification gives operators visibility of your available assets and approves them for aggregation, helping you qualify aggregated groups faster to bid into markets.
Your quick journey to group qualification
1. Register your group members: Bulk upload group members to the platform.
2. Link your group members to groups: Easily aggregate your individual asset "group members" into groups that are designed for market participation.
3. The market operator verifies your group members: Market operators can instantly check group members against their network and update the group members status and the Constraint Managed Zones (CMZs) it is eligible for.
You can see the status of your group member on the Group Members page (Approved, Rejected, Pending).
NOTE: You can link your group members to a group before they are verified by your market operator. If the market operator rejects your group member, it will also be unlinked from the group.
4. The market operator will check the group member network location: The market operator checks that the CMZ of your group member matches the groups that it’s linked to.
NOTE: If your group member’s network location doesn’t match the group, your asset will be unlinked from the group - even if your group member was approved. The “Approved” status refers to the verification that your asset is on the network, rather than confirmation of its location.
5. Your groups are now ready for markets: Once all location checks are complete, any approved and correctly matched group members remain linked. This enables your groups to be technically qualified to participate in markets on ElectronConnect.
6. Maximise your portfolio: Once verified, group members can be dynamically aggregated into multiple groups, allowing you to quickly tailor your portfolio to meet the specific technical and capacity requirements of different market opportunities.
